That library name problem (a trailing "U" or sometimes another letter) has
been very common in Red Hat Linux 7.x when the %configure macro was
automatically running "libtoolize --force" if configure.in was present.
If the autogen.sh runs that, you may want to try disabling it.

The solution on Red Hat Linux is to either remove configure.in (or move it
out of the way temporarily) or override the __libtoolize macro with:

%define  __libtoolize :
