Yeah, same here and I don't even have a fanless power supply ;)

It would be good to find, or implement, a solution to this.
I know bjorn looked at setting the drive speed and using streming 
reads, though I'm not sure this was under Linux.  My memmory is 
failing as to what it resulted in.   Hope bjorn can fill in the
details here when he gets back.
