Concerning my report of problems with the SoundBlaster Vibra (an
ancient card which can only sample to 44.1 kHz) with the stock

Thanks much!  Keil's drivers for the SoundBlaster Live indeed work
perfectly in my limited testing.

The only disappointment is that a 400 MHz Pentium II with 128MB and
a ATI Rage Pro can do more than 20 fps in simple tests with Linux,
but is slower by a factor close to 3 with Solaris 8.

Solaris and Linux can use DMA for the drive, but it seems only Linux 
supports the mtrr registers for "write-combining" on video.  DMA
and mtrr make a huge difference for ogle on Linux.

I also tested the (try-and-buy) drivers from www.opensound.com (which
I have purchased in the past in other contexts).  These make the Vibra
work acceptably, but require more computing resources in this 
particular case since the Vibra cannot do 48 kHz.
