When it happens, video and audio both play at double speed.

Yes, it's repeatable and it's always the same discs behaving in the same ways. 
All but one of the disks I've tried were commercially produced; again, some 
playing normally, others at double speed. The one home-made disk I've tried 
plays at double speed. Unfortunately, I only have a small number of samples 
to test.
