Ogle and Soundblaster Live - no AC3

I've tried to follow the information in the FAQ's to enable the SP/DIF output, but I can't get surround sound of any kind to work with my soundblaster live card using Ogle.  If I enable AC3, I get a loud clicking sound and nothing else.  If I enable the five speaker setup, I only get stereo sound from my front left and right speakers.  I have tried using alsa name set as default, pcm, surround51, and iec958.  At one point I was getting only the front left and right surround channels, and was missing the center front voice and rear surround channels.

I can't believe no one has gotten this working.  Someone must know how.  I am using Fedora Core 2 test3.
