Whoops, sorry about the confusion. The fglrx drivers are the binary ones
you're talking about, the ones from ATI's website.
Also, I just checked my /var/log/Xorg.0.log file, and found the lines
(II) Loading extension XVideo
(II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation
Is this at all related to Xv? I really don't know very much about the
subject...

How do I set the region? I downloaded a program called regionset, and
set the region to 1, but it didn't seem to do anything. I tried playing
both discs, with the same results as before.
All my discs are region 1, by the way. My drive should also be region 1,
but I'm not entirely sure. It's not listed in my manual, but I live in
the US, and bought it from a US-based company, so I would assume so.
