Crashes when open disk

I am using debian sarge on a IBM thinkpad t22 (PIII 900....)
I have made a simlink to my dvd /dev/hdc -> /dev/dvd and chmod 755 it.
When I insert a DVD I can mount and read it with no problem, but when I 
execute open disk from ogle, program crashes (close) and does not display any 
error.
I will apreciate very much any help.
