pgl-launcher is still broken. D.J. changed the format when he added all
the res_c stuff, and I don't think the new format works correctly.

The original plan was for the res_* libraries to be used by clients to
access configuration information and load data files from MacOS X style
"app packages".

That plan changed shortly after the current res_c code was written. We
wanted the additional capability to load applications/applets for
handling common mime types. This shouldn't be something duplicated
amongst multiple libraries, but it can't be implemented in the server
either. So, we were planning on creating an 'app server' that would run
on the client side and handle these configuration, loading, and mime
type requests.

At this point, I don't want to put that much effort into pg1. When I get
to the point of working on pgl, I'm planning on just scrapping it all
and making a python module to handle the app packaging and
configuration, and writing pgl in python.
