I added an issue to the collector to track this PGL problem:

The problem was that D.J. added support for res_c to pgl-launcher, but
didn't get it working before committing it. This could have been
completed or rolled back, but:

 - Not I nor anyone else with committ access apparently was actively
   using PGL

 - We were planning on replacing res_c with app-server

I'd prefer to, rather than investing the time in app-server, make a
quick-and-dirty but functional launcher probably in python.

There's also omnibar, which still works but was only intended as a quick
test. Its code has some buffer overflow problems I've never bothered to
fix, and it has none of the flexibility an applet-based design gives.

As for wireless cards:
I've used 802.11b on my zaurus with picogui just fine. PicoGUI doesn't
yet have any applications specifically for 802.11, like configuration
menus or a signal strength meter, but there's nothing stopping you from
setting it up using iwconfig and ifconfig.
