[streaming] vlc by ftp

Hi.. i've a network hard drive (WD My Book World Edition)connected to  
my router.
I usually connect to my WD by ftp way from Lan and by remote (from  
another computer)
TO connect by remote i use dyndns and all works!!
So..can i watch in streaming (with VLC) a movie from my hard disk in  
remote connection?
Because..if i download a movie ( 1 gb) from my hard disk i've to wait  
so many time!
