Hello Xavier,

some remarks on Roucka's issues.

1. He says to use vdpau but he has no working implementation.
    His xine falls back to software decoding and xv output.

2. He seems to work with stripped binaries (no debug info).

3. He does not set --verbose=2, which would help a bit.
    --verbose=3 turns on additional timestamp info (very verbose).

4. I could reproduce 2 crashes, and fix them at least for my environment.

5. I was unable to provoke a wrong time display with various
    DVDs, both PAL and NTSC ones (internal libdvdnav).
    Just in case: playback not starting at time 0 is not necessarily a bug.
    Both movie chapters and animated sub-menus are part of larger files,
    and are addressed by time index.
    Furthermore, some very old DVD players dont handle files of 2Gb or
    more. Thus long movies will be chopped into small fragments. Only the
    first fragment starts at time 0, the others have times referring to
    their position in the complete movie.
    Roucka did not report any menu misnavigation which would be the
    result of really wrong times.
    In other words: please give more details here.

6. Admittedly, I never tried xine built in DVB. I use a private Kaffeine
    fork with xine backend instead, as it has nice program scan, EPG and
    recording scheduler features. Some of my old libxine patches explicitely
    address this combination, most notably dvbspeed mode and dynamic PMT.
