First, thanks for looking at this, this is very much appreciated.
The bug report is rather confuse because it's mixing several different 
issues.
I'll try and answer your points inline.

Another user, Leigh, added to the bug report and was using vdpau. I 
guess it adds to the confusion.

Yes, the RPM binaries are stripped, but the debuginfo can be added back 
by way of installing the xine-lib-debuginfo rpm.
He now has the debuginfo package installed so a newer backtrace shoud be 
more meaningful.

My fault, I told him to use --verbose, not --verbose=2.

Yes, I provided RPMs with uptodate code and the disappearance of the 
crashes was confirmed in the bug report, after a number of iteration.
I was monitoring the commits in xine-lib and noticed several commits 
that seemed related to the bug report, so I suspected Petri and you were 
looking at it. Sorry for failing to report the improvements in a timely 
manner. Actually, there was 3 different crashs reported, it seems Petri 
fixed a 3rd one.
