DVB-T TV with Xine

I cannot get smooth sound or picture with xine. The sound squeaks and breaks up and the picture becomes distorted every few seconds. I have tried increasing the buffers for both but there is no change. TV is fine with Windows! Can anyone help? Thanks Jim Dickin SYSTEM: OpenSuse 10.3.
