~/.xine/xinerc and -V xxmc

I want to be able to place command line options in ~/.xine/xinerc. 
Every option seems to work except the one that turns on XvMC which is -V xxmc.

Should I be using a different ~/.xine configuration file?

$ uname -r
2.6.24.4-64.fc8

# rpm -qa |grep xine
xine-0.99.5-1.fc7
xine-lib-devel-1.1.11.1-1.fc8.1
xine-lib-moles-1.1.11.1-1.fc8
xine-lib-1.1.11.1-1.fc8.1
