freebsd, xine-remote, mrl and crashing

Hello list.

I'm running xine on FreeBSD 7.1 (multiple archs), and I've finally got
xine to run on them, but xine remote kills them.

I use xine -n and can then go to another machine and xine-remote -H
<xine host> and identify, but when I mrl play <any mrl> xine crashes
with the following error:

cannot read request from client (0/2112/Resource temporarily
unavailable)
could not handle external client request
xiTK received SIGSEGV signal, RIP.
Abort trap: 6 (core dumped)

I've tried numerous methods to find out why xine was crashing and came
to this conclusion (finally!), but I'm stumped here now- googling hasn't
revealed anything at all and I have no more ideas on how to debug and
fix this.

Help please? :S

Thanks
