Hi,

you should post what kind of settings you use for encoding, otherwise we
won't be able to help you. So what I'm now stating is just wild guessing:

In case you encode with 1-pass quality mode, don't set the quality to
100% but switch to a lower value (80-90% also looks nice and is much
smaller. Just try for yourself what gives the best compromise between
quality and filesize for you). Also, in case your source is interlaced,
you should deinterlace it (deinterlacing filter in VirtualDub) before
compressing it with XviD if you want the best possible compression.

Regarding your 2-pass problem I'm a bit stunned because just everyone is
using XviD 2-pass together with VirtualDub without any problems. So you
either have a super-duper old XviD version installed (unlikely) or you're
not using the 2-pass options correctly. I suggest you should take a look
at the guides of doom9 and read the doom9 XviD forums for some more
information (http://www.doom9.org).

bye,
Michael
