poor encoding performance

Hello,

this is my first post to the list.
I have tested the xvid encoder to record a video of a race sim game we  
are developing but realized that the encoded frames are all blurred up.
I am sure I am not setting something up right.
I have used the revel implementation.
Is there any support for that before I continue with the details?
