Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox for November 26 is now online at:
  > http://www.useit.com/alertbox/ia.html

Summary:
In analyzing 56 intranets, we found many common top-level categories,
labels, and navigation designs, but ultimately, the diversity was too
great to recommend a single IA.

HOTEL SOLD OUT

The good news is that a huge number of people are coming to our Las Vegas
conference next week. This many user experience professionals in one place
means more buzz and more networking opportunities, so it'll make the Vegas
event even better than the Barcelona event.

The bad news is that registrations exceeded my expectations by so much
that our main conference hotel, Caesars Palace, is completely sold out of
our room allocation.

Don't despair.

The great thing about Las Vegas is that there is definitely no lack of
other good places to stay on the Strip. The following hotels are literally
next door to Caesars Palace:

   * Bellagio
   * Mirage

These hotels are close by, across the street from Caesars:

   * Venetian
   * Bally's
   * Paris
   * Planet Hollywood

STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LAS VEGAS

Because we have more attendees than expected, we need more student
volunteers to help with tasks like distributing handouts during the
sessions.

If you're willing to do a small amount of work, this is your chance to get
in for free and meet many of the world's leading user experience experts
at our Las Vegas conference (Dec. 2-7).

Full-time university students, who are interested in volunteering for the
conference: please email [email protected] (be sure to tell us
what you are studying).
