RESEARCH UPDATE 2008

One of the seminars at the User Experience conference is a bit unusual,
and we've gotten many questions about it, so let me try to explain.

The "Research Update 2008" day can be summarized as follows:
"We read the academic literature, so you don't have to."

We're currently making our way through about a thousand research papers
published within the last year, to select the rare handful with the most
practical applications. We won't cover ways of making a virtual reality
browser or a T-shirt that glows in different colors depending on the
wearer's mood, as much as such research does represent potential new
thinking in user interfaces.

Research Update focuses on the research results you need to know to stay
in the forefront of the profession, because they change the way you think
about practical design projects: new usability methods, deep insights into
user behavior on the Internet, and UI innovations that actually improve
websites or applications.
