10 Best Intranets of 2012

Social networking and personalization rise to higher levels this year,
while mobile intranets continue to cut their teeth. Also, smaller

NO FIXED SCREEN SIZES FOR MOBILE

You might think that there is a small number of fixed screen sizes to
design for in mobile devices. Think again:

Rieger recorded about 500 different screen resolutions for Android
devices. Despite the title of her article, there's really no "trouble"
with Android. Rather, different screen resolutions are needed for
different purposes. This only causes trouble for web designers if they
assume that they can design for a fixed screen resolution.

The approach of "frozen" design optimized for a specific screen size is
something I have campaigned against since the 1990s. We saw in desktop
design that it's better to design for flexible layouts that will work for
a wide range of resolutions. It's no big surprise to find the same for
mobile.
