Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox for August 2 is now online at: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040802.html Summary: Users will often overlook the actual location of information or products if another website area seems like the perfect place to look. Cross-references and clear labels alleviate this problem. ------------ Get a free usability test of your intranet (if you allow us to publish the findings and screenshots) > http://www.nngroup.com/reports/intranet/freetest DEADLINE: 11 days from now ------------ User Experience 2004 conference > Las Vegas, October 3-8 > Amsterdam, November 1-6 > 33 full-day tutorials More info and full program: http://www.nngroup.com/events We have had some questions about the fact that there are two tutorials on content usability. Content Usability 1 has the fundamentals about writing for the Web. If you have attended the Content Usability course in previous years, then DON'T come for this day since there will be too much overlap. The new, advanced, material will be presented in Content Usability 2. This second day assumes that you have attended either Content Usability 1 the day before or that you have been to a course on writing for the Web in earlier years. If you haven't been to any content usability courses before, take day 1 if you only want the basics; take day 1+2 if you want everything. Do not go straight for day 2.
