Description and Blog title not displaying

I went to adjust the layout of my blog the other day and now for some 
reason the Description and Blog Title are now no longer displaying instead 
they are just replaced with a bunch of blank lines.

I can see in the preview that the mobile version is showing the Title and 
Description but for some reason it isn't coming up in the full version.

I tried loading other templates and the only way I was able to the Title 
back was by changing to one of the Dynamic Layouts or Classic Templates but 
it is still missing the description and when I do that it is missing all of 
the additional gadgets like subscribe and blog archive.

Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this?  I did not make a back up 
prior because I didn't think that such a simple design layout would have 
broken so much.
