I think, if the feedback is big enough and there are enough people willin= g to contribute (and I think there already is a trend towards that) we should first consolidate and renew the build: 1. either maybe entirely use maven (the main build still is ant, bu= t at least dependencies are fetched using maven, maybe some deployment as well) or go on to gradle. The special things in the build are the selftest and the automatic publishing at webtest.canoo.com ... This probably could easier be addressed using gradle =96 but more developers are used to maven. But thi= s then can be discussed after doing the move. 2. move the automated build from the old Cruise Control to a modern continuous integration platform (-> we are using Teamcity at Canoo, I think either we move the build there =96 or alternatively we also could u= se Jenkins or Hudson if this would show advantages) Canoo surely still would be willing to sponsor the operation of the build server and the webtest.canoo.com site. You are right regarding webtest and its connectedness with htmlunit. But = I think, we can manage this after we have simplified the build. I also have done a small contribution to htmlunit once before and it wasn=92t that ha= rd to get into it. Hi Martin, +1, but I did some research in contributing webtest and each time i stuck wit= h the challenging struckture of the project the connectedness with htmlunit= , other dependencies and even the ancient and complex build. May be with more initial support I would be able to support. I=92m Developer and do nowadays write most of my test in Groovy =96 my webtests-suite (XML-based) is only maintained. For me the main drawback ist he =84out-of-date=93 browser-support (includ= ing JS) via htmlunit. Years ago the most webtest supporter were also htmlunit developer. I happen to like using Webtest and find it truly disappointing that the product has slipped into the state is has. I wonder if the sponsors woul= d be willing to donate it or host it elsewhere=85 or if that would even hel= p. It is difficult for me to gauge the level of interest or use in the product via this mailing list. It was once much more active and leads me to believe that most have moved to another tool. I work with a test team that are not developers, and the ability to write test scripts using Ant XML is much easier for them to grasp than writing Java code. I was able to get a version of Webtest running on htmlunit 2.12. But the changes in 2.14 and dependencies are a little more daunting and I have no= t had the time required to get a good feel for how all of the pieces work together so that I can make updates.
