C+S: Reading online -- is it different for kids?

I serve on the Board of Library Trustees in my town, and was talking
with someone about an article in the
<http://www.boston.com/ae/games/articles/2006/10/23/e_books_try_to_read_em_and_weep/>Boston
Globe about books and how electronic media haven't (yet) replaced
books. For years, I've read about how it's easier to read paper than
online, but today I was wondering if kids are different.
Does the fact that school children are growing up with computers make
it easier for them to read online? Or does the familiarity not
outweigh the various things that make books easier to read? And what
about the greater tactile pleasure many of us feel with paper books
-- will kids care about that, or will they prefer things with
buttons? (That's a separate question, but predictions will be entertained.)
Has anyone done any research on the difference between kids and
adults reading online? I'll summarize.
