Re: Time Out, Close Session and Reauthentication Timing

Dear all,

I think this is one of those design problems where the potential for a
use case to be missed is huge. I believe the solution is to take an
extreme stance on the issue. My rule of thumb for time-outs is that
they should either be:

1 - so huge that the delay is greater than any commonly used measure
of time (something like two years)

or

2 - so short that the awareness of disconnection forms a constant part
of the user experience (as in a bank's online service)
