Jaclyn,

We've been using Axure at my company for the past year and have found it a
very useful tool. It's helped out in three areas of our product development
efforts:

1. It's provided a fully interactive environment for us to try out designs.

2. We're able to communicate design ideas to far more effectively to
internal stakeholders.

3. We've been able to perform usability tests of design much earlier in the
software development process, prior to any coding taking place.

I think Axure was originally intended for designing traditional websites but
we've found equally effective for design touch screen applications. Also,
with the recent feature enhancements of the most recent release, we've used
it to prototype and ajax-based web application.

Its weak points are lack of check-in check-out features for allowing teams
to use the same source file. Also, it has very limited graphic design
support. I prefer lower fidelity prototypes during design and early testing
so don't see the later point as much of a weakness.

Subject: Axure RP - Wireframe, Prototype, and Specification App

A client is encouraging me to use http://www.axure.com/home.aspx for
creating wireframes, prototypes, and specifications. While it seems like a
useful tool, my client hasn't used it yet, and it hasn't been recommended to
me before. Does anyone have personal experience with this application? If
so, please share your findings. Thanks!
