A piece of cake. Since I don't have to patch cthumb.in for $prefix,
there is only the debian/-dir to update, which gets done automatically
by uupdate ../cthumb-$NEWUPSTREAMRELEASE.tar.gz.

The only thing left to do is check whether the bugs from the Debian Bug
Database have been fixed by the new release or not... (*hint, hint*)

Actually, I have a test-case here:

does show the b0rked c-cedilla in the page title whereas

http://azeem.homelinux.net/pics/page.html

is fine. Both have been generated by cthumb-4.2 (and mozilla-1.0 still
produces some graphical glitches for me)

The problem is that I need a pristine source-tarball to build a package.
If the debian stuff is already included, this would either mean having
to patch the debian part for the new release (ugly), or a coordinated
effort from us both at release time so that I update the debian stuff
just prior to a release (probably not worth the hassle). While some
users welcome debian/-directories in upstream-tarballs for example to
set configure- or compile-options, this is probably not the case for
cthumb.

If you're a debian user, you're welcomed to produce cthumb packages
yourself to put on your website, if you wish. Like I said, cthumb is
zero-maintenance from a debian-point-of-view.
