At least from the IBM i perspective: there's no other TLS library available. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to port a different one. I think a lot of people use other HTTP libraries (HTTPAPI or the newer IBM provided one), or they use AIX curl from PASE (IBM also provides a build of this).
