interesting, the point about it being able to extend beyong the page is a good one, I may be tempted to switchover to this method... You can position it, determine whatever is inside it, determine how it looks, it is a true menu in that it can extend beyond the page, like a real (popup) menu, it will hide if you click somewhere outside, it will hide if you click outside the document, it will hide if the window loses focus...
