I used to work much as a freelance in the past, but has turned it all into a
business.
I charge between $100 and $135 pr. hour depending on type of work,
complexity and size of customer (company).

In my experience 50/50 want cost based on hours, the other half a fixed
price. But it depends
on the project it self. For larger projects they may ask for a fixed price.
Remember to bake in
overtime / "overhead" (f.ex. 20%), travel and such. Base it on reduced
hourly rates. It's also a
good idea to run a log on hours that you spend and on what, so you can later
document how many
hours you are using.
