Thanks Ian. > The Apache web server has support for one or two different compression > modules. At the risk of offending those that try to keep this list HTML only, have you ever (or anyone else) found the need to gzip ahead of time? That is, to not incur any potential performance hit when (e.g.) mod_gzip does it's thing? Sorry I could help but ask the question here since we're on the top. I promise not to take it further if/after it's answered ;) > As for removing whitespace, etc., you can check out a Perl script I > attached to the JSDoc project on SourceForge. > > JSDoc is a documentation tool for Javascript. I find that very odd given the intense optimization that seems to be par for the course for sites like yahoo, webreference.com, etc. I wish I had the time to write that. That is, though I'm not dealing with enough traffic that requires such a utility/process (at the moment) and shifting of my focus to write it... if it were easy to use and not too disruptive to the html dev process, I would use it on almost any project. I guess companies like yahoo that most likely have such a tool aren't inclined to share it. Thanks again, moran Unsubscribe [email protected] List info http://www.quirksmode.org/dom/list.html Yahoo!
