Reading from an XML file and saving the XML file is not something that would be possible. However - and I think this is what you might mean - it is possible to load an XML document over HTTP, update that document in response to user input via a grid, and send the updated XML document back to the server. This would most easily be achieved using the XmlHttpRequest. I would recommend using XSLT to manage the grid - all major browsers now support this (though it is still only in beta as far as Safari is concerned). It is relatively easy to find examples of this out there, but if you need further advice and can be more specific about your needs, let me know and I will give you examples.
