Access may also be opened to specific data from publications.
Entries containing also the complete reference. For instance
this is the case of the COD (Crystallography Open Database),
gathering atomic coordinates of crystal structures, new in the
eprint archives : http://www.crystallography.net/
Just one problem with this database, very few of the > 20000
crystallographers dare to send their data, though all of them
submit their texts to the editors who transmit the crystal data to
commercial databases, some of them extremely expensive.
We expect that crystallographers will have the reflex to send
their crystal data to COD just at the time they send their
manuscripts to either eprints or paper journals. The additional
effort is close to zero.
