I believe you are using the default configuration comes with the 
installation package, which has some anti-DoS feature turned on.

What you observed is that LiteSpeed detects your load testing as 
possible DoS attack and defends itself by dropping your connections.

Please make sure all anti-DoS features are turned off before performing 
your load test.
You should check configurations under "Server"->"security"->"Per client 
Throttling Control", make sure "Connection Soft/Hard Limits" are 
configured large enough, then perform your load test again.

BTW: the 10 virtual host limit will be removed in the upcoming 2.0 
release. :)
