Thanks for the info. I use thunderbird mail agent and have never used 
anything else. I was thinking that there were problems with the list 
because I was subscribed to different lists at different times and the 
only thing I always needed is to reply without any substitution of the 
addresses and the mail went to the list. The lists I was subscribed to: 
openh323.org, gnugk.org, freeradius.org, boost.org and everywhere it 
worked the same way (and there is A LOT of people subscribe to these 
lists, I didn't see anybody complain that his/her letters weren't 
intended for public review). As far as I remember it was advised to 
reply without modification so that threads wouldn't be broken. Another 
issue was that no one wants to answer questions in private letters from 
strangers; here I was bugging a few people and once someone wrote that 
I'd better off ask the list - I didn't understand what he meant and 
continued to ask him in private msgs :). Then I replied to some people 
and was waiting to see my replies arrive on the list - and they never 
came. So I checked where I was sending the mail, and, shit, I see now - 
all fcgi letters went to private mail boxes.
I remember that I tried to reply a few times and though that my mails 
didn't come through, so I tried to post them once again and again :))))
I really think that public lists should have reply-to headers.

PS. Yeah, I see there's a button reply all, but it may have just the 
same effect as you described about some famous person (a copy will go to 
someone you didn't want to receive the letter). I'll try to remember 
that for fcgi I need to use reply-all!
