What you think about templates

Hi!
These are not strict fastcgi questions but seeing the advanteges of the 
fastcgi technology (specially with perl or c++ other are languages are 
unknown for me) over other ones the answer of people who work in fastcgi 
would be very useful for me.

I have to make enterprice web project with many create, update and delete 
operations, also a lot of triggers are predicted. 

Because most data have to be inputed and outputed in table forms my questions 
are:

WHAT ABOUT USING EXTERNAL (not done by us) TEMPLATES (from perl for instance)? 
DO YOU USE THE TEMPLATES IN SUCH ENTERPRICE APPLICATIONS?
WHAT ABOUT XML BASED TEMPLATES?
ARE EXTERNAL TEMPLATES REALLY SAVE YOUR TIME AND GIVE YOU PROPER LEVEL OF 
USER-SYSTEM INTERACTION?
