problem w/ mod_fastcgi, freebsd, and apache21

Hi, I've seen that a number of people have had this same problem but I have not seen any solutions. I'm using freebsd 5.3-RELEASE, apache-2.1.4, and have installed mod_fastcgi-2.4.2 I added the following line to my httpd.conf file: LoadModule fastcgi_module /usr/local/libexec/apache/mod_fastcgi.so But when I try to start apache I get the following error: httpd: Syntax error on line 282 of /usr/local/etc/apache21/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/libexec/apache/mod_fastcgi.so into server: /usr/local/libexec/apache/mod_fastcgi.so: Undefined symbol "ap_user_id" Can anybody tell me what is going wrong?
