Writing dynamic pages

Apologies because this post is on the nntp server but not here. I thought it would show both places. I have a web site that is generated by an app and responds to www.mypage.com. There is a link on the page that goes to www.example.com/page2. I do not remember how to create the response to this request. The request does not go to my 'index' app that created the first page. If I write a second app called 'page2' the browser tries to download it rather than finding a properly executed 'page2'. I've been away from this for a while and am afraid I have just forgotten some basic element. Can someone point me in the right direction?
