using -socket option

I want to make my fastcgi application communicate with the httpd
using a named socket. I presume I do this with the -socket option
to the FastCGIServer directive, but how do I make my application
then use this socket for communications?  I presume I somehow need
to make FCGI_Accept() read its data from this socket. How do I do
this? Or have I got it all wrong??
