Hmm. Probably I misunderstand you, cos it's simple:

/etc/apache2/modules.d/20_mod_fastcgi.conf:
    FastCgiExternalServer /myproject/my.fpl -socket /var/run/myproject.sock

/myproject/.htaccess:
    Action fcgi /my.fpl		# assuming /myproject/ is document root
    AddHandler fcgi .html

Then run your FastCGI application, with any name ("my.fpl" isn't related
to it name), and have it listen to /var/run/myproject.sock.
