Yeah, these are just horrible things. But that's what backward
compatibility and all the historical baggage does...

Yeah, of course... that's actually far more important. So again, I
believe that introducing a such TemplateModel and the related wrapper
is BC, however, you couldn't actually use them until you switch to a
non-default wrapper. And changing the default wrapper is non-BC. /-:

Yeah, that's how it should be done. I think these things should be
implemented in the 99% BC 2.4 (which is kind of a GWE compatible 2.3
variation), and then in 2.5 we just change the defaults both for the
default audience and for the default object wrapper.
