Re: Galeon 2 User Interface

Hi,

You really need to take it easy.

You are the one who is mistaken in this case. There are many people
that use the Gnome desktop that do not care about the things you and I
do. My mother, for example, wants a browser that "just works". No
cruft, no advanced options -- "The web and only the web".

More examples? The corporation I work for. We're switching to Linux
desktops for many of the administrative staff. I assure you they don't
give a damn. They just want to type in yahoo.com and get the page they
were looking for. That's it.

More? My roommate at university. Tired of XP crashing, I convinced him
to try RH 8.0. He's in arts; he doesn't even know what HTML is. He
just wants to be able to go to The Onion and Penny Arcade.

I've got more... I've switched a lot of people over, and I assure you
most of them don't care. You need to realize that Linux is used by
people that aren't hackers. That's what Havoc et all are getting at,
and it's important to the Galeon project because if Galeon becomes
bloated and "crufty", they (major distros) will ship something else.

I like the idea of plugins to add advanced functionality if that can be
implemented well -- I know I'd like some of the features that have been
discussed here, but I also know I'm more willing to download a package
and install it than Joe Smith is, so I should be the one to do the work,
not him.

So just remember to have a quick look at the real world before you spout
this sort of nonsense again.

Thanks for reading,
Aaron
