I didn't mean to despise Havoc. I am sorry if it sounded like it. I actually agree with most things he says and with the whole idea of simplifying interfaces in general and preference dialogs in particular. But in the same thread you had mentioned the famous Havoc document about that subject. I'm a bit tired of seeing it *every* time that someone even thinks about adding a pref. In some cases there's no "right" way to do something[1]. I think this is one of those cases[2]. [1] There are more cases. For example, bug #86108 (which i think is not going to be fixed anytime and makes imposible for me to use metacity). [2] I have thought about this a lot because autocompletion is my pet feature.
