I'm still not comfortable at all with having menu items having the same
visible effect (ie closing the last window), but doing 2 different
things, especially with one of them leaving a process in memory, and the
other killing it. And having two options to launch galeon (--server and
--resident) which does mostly the same thing, but have very subtle
differences is also confusing.

As a sidenote, nowadays mozilla (and galeon) recognizes new plugins
without restarting.
