I dont do it often, but sometimes, especially when Im tinkering with
servers and squids and cgi's, I like to not use the proxy that I
normally use. In these cases, just popping to a menu and turing it off
was _excellent_. I didnt need to switch between 'manual proxy' and
'automatic proxy' at all, but I often switched between 'no proxy' and
'proxy'. Just that would be enough to keep me happy :)

Anyway, Id argue that most things should use just the GNOME/global proxy
settings, but the specific application that is intended to use the web
100%, should be able to easily change those settings as easily as
possible, as it was on the old galeon.

PS: I posted earlier about missing features, and over time Ive come to
    find their replacements (like middle clicking home replacing 'new tab')
    Mostly that has made me happy, but the one setting i __REALLY__ miss is 

        insensitive tab close buttons

    Please please please make that the default (or go the mozilla 1
    close button).
