Yeah, exactly the reason we didn't do that in the first place...

I just noticed that if there's no <default> element at all, it simply
vanishes from gconf-editor when unset.  Yes, yes, I know we have the
README.ExtraPrefs no one reads, but I don't think vanishing keys are a
good thing.

I don't know if there's any good fix other than simply rename the key
(and start using strings for enums while at it) as suggested in gconf
manual.
