Yeah, that is something which comes up from time to time, but noone ever
steps up to do the work :-/
The bookmark editor is fairly well abstracted from the rest of the code
as far as I know (though Ricardo would know much more about that).
A GNOME-wide bookmark lib would be great imo (it would help to make
Nautilus bookmarks a bit less sucky for example ;).
Some things to keep in mind is that the browser officially endorsed by
GNOME is Epiphany, which has a totally different bookmark system. And
Marco (Epiphany author) doesn't like XBEL much because XBEL is modelled
around a hierarchical bookmark system, and Epiphany bookmarks aren't
hierarchical.
I think a GNOME bookmark library would have to take into account these
problems to get accepted widely, unless people feel Ephy is special, and
all other app writers think hierarchical bookmarks are the way to go, in
which case Galeon's code is probably a good starting point.
