I think someone should look at what galeon 1.2.x. did. We had a rather
opinionated discussion back then. What came out of it and ended up in
the code was never really challenged after that nor it has generated any
significant amount of bug reports so I consider it the sweetspot for
this kind of thing.

Imho the context over a plain image should have the navigational items
on top.
