Egg status

Hi all,

    The port to egg toolbars and menus is now nearly done. The
egg_branch is quite usable and feature complete as far as I know. I
think we should merge it with HEAD soon to allow more testing.

    Tommi wanted to do a "normal" release before doing the merge and I
agree.

    I have merged all the changes in HEAD to the egg_branch just now, so
the egg_branch has now everything from HEAD plus the egg stuff.
