Hi Crispin, on Sat, 04 Oct 2003 21:04:28 +0100 you wrote: > Tim Jackson wrote: > > Try posting a high-bit ASCII character like 'ΓΈ' (oslash) then viewing > > the source: > This does look like a mozilla problem, as I shall explain: Thanks. I can reproduce what you said. It also works in the converse case; if you clear the intl.charset.default option in Galeon's prefs.js, clear the GConf key and remove the cache dir, Galeon "works" again. Ouch. I can't quite figure out what's going on here, but it does look ugly, and something to do with Mozilla. I wonder if (as a workaround) Galeon should just steer clear of the option altogether? Or, perhaps it's even a possibility that Moz is doing something that's strictly correct but unexpected? I really don't know enough about charsets/encoding to know. Should someone file a Mozilla bug? I'm going to hang on a while to see if anyone who knows more about this can shed any light on what's going on. A quick search reveals the following bugs which may or may not be connected: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181901 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29271 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189275 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28908 Tim ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
